My wedding indoor shoot

June 21st, 2007 by tarcielim

The long awaited indoor shoot is over. It was fun and exciting , especially for a bride. Ponnie, my makeup artist gave me three hairdos and makeup. I feel like a star!

We took more than 100 photos within 3 hours. I did everything exactly what the photographer Eddie instructed. It was tiring but I feel like a model!

Some snipshots of my favourite images.

Bangkok Part 3

May 16th, 2007 by tarcielim

Our last day at Bangkok was very eventful as well. Me and Jerome went for our 3.5 hr scrub + massage at another spa - 7 SENSE near Big C.Dsc00102 It was so comfortable that Jerome fell asleep at the spa, snoring melodiously.

After a relaxing time at the spa, we took our lunch at the Dragon Seafood Restaurant along the same street. We ordered crab, prawns and shark’s fin . The food was simply fantastic and the prawns were very big! Me and Jerome were very satisfied.

Bangkok Part 2- Piggie Travels - My Hubby is Thai!

Day 1 - Arrived at bangkok at noon time. Weather was hot and dry.. My skin started to get sensitive and red. Throat was dry, in need of water.

Tartar reached bangkok!

Our hotel was at Pratunam where all the clothes’ wholesalers are situated. Used to purchase alot of cheap stuff here, but they are no longer my cup of tea due to boring design and fabric quality. We tried to enquire tailors for suits and blouses. Though prices are cheaper than Singapore, the fabrics used and designs are very simple. Sophisticated ones would cost much more. We decide to give tailors a miss.

Decided to proceed to Siam Square in the evening where I managed to purchase a very nice white office suit. It was not cheap but really good quality. My colleagues in office did not believe I found it in Bangkok..haha..

We had dinner at a nice Hong Kong restaurant serving big wantons! After dinner, we went to the Rajdamri spa near Big C for foot massage at 250 baht per hour. It is a comfortable spa and we enjoyed the service there. The massage lady actually asked if I was from Hong Kong due to my fair skin. I said no,  I am from Singapore. Then she commented that Jerome looked like  a Thai.. Hmm.. Must be a very handsome Thai Guy then..hehe!

Bangkok

My Bangkok Trip Part 1 - napa

I just arrived in Singapore and immediately sat down to write my blog. There is so much to write this time and I dunno where to start. Just saw Napa online for 5 mins… so my intuition told me to write about this sweet girl first. :)

Napa is one of the highlights of my 3 days trip to bangkok. I have not met her for 13-14 years.. such a long time. In Sec school days, we aren’t exactly close.. sad to say.. though I am just sitting in front of her. Maybe its due to my shy and timid nature then.. Did not mix alot with my sec school friends in those days. I guess to me that time, studies was most important. Given a chance to go back again, I might not think the same way and of cos might become a different Liangwan.

I was excited to meet her, it is an unexplainable thing… cos as I mentioned, we were not exactly close then. But still, there are sweet things I remember of those days. She is one of my nice nice classmates those days who are funny and make me laugh.. and also super pleasant to chat with.

Ok 14 years later… I met her at the hotel lobby of Indra Regent. She said I grew taller… Yes from 1.67 to 1.7m, now we are the same height! Same height means can see eye to eye *wink*..hehe.. And napa looks great!  Not a bit like someone with a 2 year old daughter! Nice shape, nice hair and of cos a very pleasant disposition as always. And yes, she sound so gentle now.. so THAI..heheh!

Napa brought us to eat nice lunch at Fuji Restaurant in Siam Discovery Centre. Its a very nice Japanese place.. with great interiors and value for money sashimi.. Me and Jerome enjoyed the lunch fully and of cos Napa’s company.

After that, we went MBK for shopping and Napa had to leave for her countryside home in the evening. Our meetup was short but fulfilling. Thanks for taking time to bring us around  Napa..Till then hope to see you when you are back in SG! Cheers…

Rebonding

May 3rd, 2007 by tarcielim

I went to rebond my hair at Masa Salon on friday (Harbourfront). Was quite disappointed as the effect is not super straight.. And most people did not notice that I rebonded my hair… Think I will stick with Haru next time…. But of cos this really looks v naturalDsc00082 ..

My Eventful Sunday

April 8th, 2007 by tarcielim

10.15am Jerome arrived at my doorstep and I drove to Clementi Sports Stadium. The car park is multi storey.. Gosh this is my first time trying a multi storey car park.. and its quite tricky..Need to be careful about the kerb when going up and down.

Did an hour’s workout at the Clementi gym.. mainly running and weights as well as situps.. Must tone up more for my wedding!

Drove back home to bathe and then proceed to Meixin’s house at Pipit Road. Its pretty easy, just need to go PIE and exit at Paya Lebar, I was getting complacent already!

At Meixin’s house, I saw Meixin’s cute son who looked like Edward.. he was sleeping, so did not really get to play with him. I also got to meet up with Liling and Zhaojin, immediately I boasted to them that I drove here today! Of cos they quickly urged me to give them a lift back and I proudly agreed.

Well, I realised Geylang / Aljunied Roads are really not easy.. there are alot of funny people who kept jay-walking and also bicycles of china ladies along the road.. I was wondering if it is Little China today.. Also the roads seem weird, I actually turned wrongly into a wrong direction road today! What a shame! Luckily , Liling did not laugh at me. I also tried a funny parallel parking at her house. Really heaved a sigh of relief when it was completed.

At night, I practised driving to Jerome’s house and also to Clementi Central. I am dead tired. But its fun.. really v satisfying!..

Driving.. Driving…

April 7th, 2007 by tarcielim

When Lynn told me she drove to work on Thursday.. I was like.. "My God.. even lazy Lynn also start driving already.. I better buck up..Humph!"

Geez.. can’t belive i actually was VERY motivated and started driving this weekend.. Went for two lessons by Teacher Jerome.. and he said i passed today! hehe.. Started yesterday practising at west coast park, then went by the highway back home, then to Harbourfront and back home again. Also managed to do my parking module.. its so fun!

Today, i drove to Bukit Timah and Muhammed Sultan , also tried a Parallel parking. Parallel parking is the most difficult I think, needs lots of practice but a whole hell of satisfaction when you park beautifully centre and straight. Sounds  paranoid hehe.

Tomorrow I will try to drive to Meixin’s house at Kaki Bukit. Challenging eh!.. Jerome says I need to try multi storey car parks next.

Most of all, I am glad I overcome my 6 years phobia of driving. Tartar has grown up! Thanks to dear Jerome, always encouraging me! And of cos Miss Lynn for poking me with her recent driving ventures too. :)

Tan Yoong - My No. 1 Favourite

March 31st, 2007 by tarcielim

When my friend Felicia told me she used Tan Yoong as her gown designer, I wondered about him. She spent about 5 K on gowns alone . She told me he is very good.. and his gowns are light. I wondered what that meant.

Me and Jerome walked past his studio at Lucky Plaza two times. Each time, his studio was crowded and his assistant will inform us he is fully booked. His studio is small and hardly well furnished compared to the studios we see at Delphi Orchard and Tanjong Pagar.

The man was very "Uncle" looking as Jerome defined. Always in very thick plastic spectacles and bermudas, he hardly looked like a designer. But to me, I still felt he must be very good to acheive what he has today.

When I called up on Tuesday to make appointment, the assistant said she will call me back. And on Thursday, there was still no news. Finally, i called up again and she said they are fully booked on Sat. I "TEH" and pleaded with her, finally she squeezed me into an half an hour slot at 3.30pm.

I did not think I will take Tan Yoong as his gowns are super expensive. It is not realistic for an accountant to spend such money and of cos its only for one day. And the interesting thing is, he also act as the photographer sometimes, and his charges are 15K. Oh my god! But I still wanted to know how it felt to be in a  TY gown.

"I made an appointment with Ted Wu".. OOps I said the wrong name . The shop assistant immediately looked insulted. And I did not realise I said the wrong name till Jerome told me. What a shame.

Gown- the gowns r fantastic. I tried three off the rack and they are really incredible. Even my fussy hubby said they are good. Workmanship perfect, cutting is nice and glamourous. Tan Yoong uses all white as a theme, so that it looks simple and yet glamourous. Now I know why people say he is the top.

Tan Yoong asked me to rate him against Ted, and I just responded that Ted is good too, glamourous style. But if he were to ask me again, I will say Tan Yoong’s gowns are the best.

My Wedding Preparations - Beginning

March 30th, 2007 by tarcielim

Everyone told me the start of everything is dates. Dates should come first and then wedding venue.. then the house and bridal studio will come later.

We got three dates from the fortune teller at Parklane shopping Centre. The dates are in Sep, Oct and Dec 07… Apparently, I called up all the 5 and 6 star hotels.. and only one date is available.. that is in Sep. Looks like its fated we should get married at the earliest possible date!

I never believed much in fate till I met Jerome. Everthing seems to fall so right in place when its the right guy.. Even the hotel, oh my god. I really feel so lucky ..! Initially, when i called up the hotels regarding the Sep date, 4 responded with space, in which 2 we were put on waiting list. The 2 are Four Seasons and Marina Mandarin.

Four Seasons has always been my favourite as its ballroom is the best I have gone to. My hubby liked it too , it was always our top choice. Then Marina Mandarin was also one of his favourites. When we heard we were on waiting list, we kept our fingers crossed. And yesterday, we heard the good news! Both are available for us!

Everyone told me how difficult it was to book a wedding dinner within 6 months, and moreover it was during chinese lunar month 8! I just felt that we were meant to get married on that day, against all odds!

Last night, we confirmed our booking with Wendy Loh, the manager at Marina Mandarin. Why did we choose MM? A few reasons, a more flexible management, more value for money and a better menu for food. But in terms of ballroom, Four Seasons is still the best!

Wendy is a great lady! Very nice to talk to, and she knows exactly what wedding couples need. She offered us suggestions to make our wedding more eventful and gave us lots of advice. We really look forward to working with her.

Last night, I went to Ted Wu. I had been very excited as he is one of the TOP wedding gown designers in Singapore. And as expected, we felt his wedding gowns are the best so far. I tried one which Jerome ranked it no. 1. Its in one of the bridal magazines and i can fit perfectly! The consultant mentioned it has not been worn yet and I can take off the rack because of my size.

However, like I told the consultant Maggie, the gown is fantastic, but price not beautiful. We will continue to look around to make our final choice, but Ted Wu is really good! Thumbs up!
